Overview

QA102 is an oral small molecule complement pathway inhibitor being developed by MingMed Biotechnology for the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It is designed to address the underlying inflammatory processes in the retina by modulating the complement system, which is implicated in the formation of drusen and the progression of geographic atrophy. Unlike many other complement inhibitors that require intravitreal injection, QA102 is administered orally, potentially offering a more convenient treatment option for patients with intermediate to advanced dry AMD. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development, where its efficacy on soft drusen development, visual acuity, and geographic atrophy progression is being evaluated.
