Overview

QazCovid-in is an inactivated whole virion vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The vaccine was created using a SARS-CoV-2 strain isolated from clinical samples in Kazakhstan, which was grown in Vero cell culture, inactivated with formaldehyde, purified, concentrated, and adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide as an adjuvant. It is administered intramuscularly as a two-dose regimen spaced 21 days apart. Developed by the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems (RIBSP) of Kazakhstan, it demonstrated high safety and immunogenicity in preclinical studies and early-phase clinical trials[1][2][3]. The vaccine can be stored at standard refrigeration temperatures (2–8°C), facilitating distribution[3].
