Overview

QBKPN is a lung-directed Site Specific Immunomodulator (SSI) developed by Qu Biologics. It is composed of inactivated *Klebsiella pneumoniae* and is designed to restore and enhance innate immune function specifically within the lung microenvironment. By mimicking an acute infection, QBKPN stimulates the recruitment and activation of innate effector cells, including M1-polarized macrophages and Natural Killer (NK) cells. NK cell activation is mediated through the NKG2D pathway, providing broad-spectrum anti-tumor and anti-viral activity. The therapy is administered subcutaneously to induce a systemic immune response that targets the lungs. QBKPN is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for the prevention and treatment of serious respiratory infections, including COVID-19, particularly in elderly populations with immunosenescence, and as an immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
