Overview

QBM-001 is an investigational small-molecule combination therapy being developed by Q BioMed to treat a rare subset of toddlers with pediatric minimally verbal or nonverbal autism spectrum disorder characterized by elevated blood biomarkers linked to neurotoxic buildup and developmental delay.[1][2][3][4][8][9][11][12] The drug is designed to lower specific neurotoxins and reduce levels of at least two elevated molecules implicated in this subtype, functioning as a neuroprotective, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agent, although its precise molecular mechanism of action has not been publicly defined.[2][3][4] QBM-001 originated from intellectual property licensed from Asdera and is being advanced with development support from SRI International and Sphaera Pharma, with a planned 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway and preclinical work focused on optimizing safety and formulation ahead of clinical trials in pediatric nonverbal autism.[3][5]
