QBM-076 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Novartis as an oral antagonist of the chemokine receptor CXCR2. Its primary mechanism of action involves binding to and inhibiting the activation of CXCR2, which leads to reduced recruitment of neutrophils and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in inflamed tissues. This mechanism was intended to address inflammatory processes in respiratory diseases, particularly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Clinical development reached Phase 2 trials for COPD but was ultimately discontinued before approval[1][2][3].
