Drug intelligence / Profile preview
QCC374 is a selective prostacyclin (IP) receptor agonist developed by Novartis for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It was administered as an inhaled capsule using a dry powder inhaler. The drug acts by stimulating the prostacyclin receptor, leading to vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation, mechanisms beneficial in PAH. Clinical development included randomized, placebo-controlled trials assessing safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy in PAH patients. Despite initial studies showing safety and some efficacy signals, development was discontinued after phase II trials[1][3][5].
