Overview

Qdenga (TAK-003) is a live-attenuated tetravalent dengue vaccine developed by Takeda. It is constructed using a live-attenuated dengue serotype 2 (DENV-2) virus as the genetic backbone, which provides the non-structural proteins for all four vaccine components. The structural proteins (envelope and pre-membrane) for serotypes 1, 3, and 4 are substituted into the DENV-2 backbone, while the DENV-2 component is the original attenuated strain. This design allows the vaccine to replicate and induce both neutralizing antibodies and T-cell mediated immune responses against all four dengue serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4). It is indicated for the prevention of dengue fever in individuals aged 4 years and older. Prince of Songkla University has specifically investigated the immunogenicity of intradermal administration of this vaccine compared to the standard subcutaneous route in healthy volunteers.
