Drug intelligence / Profile preview
QEL-003 is an autologous CAR-Treg cell therapy being co-developed by Quell Therapeutics and AstraZeneca for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This therapy utilizes the patient's own regulatory T cells (Tregs) which are engineered with a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) to modulate immune dysfunction. Quell Therapeutics is responsible for manufacturing and control support through early clinical studies. AstraZeneca exercised its option to license QEL-003 in June 2025, triggering a $10 million milestone payment to Quell, as part of a broader collaboration initiated in 2023 that includes potential milestones exceeding $2 billion.
