Overview

QH-863-3 is an investigational cell therapy product consisting of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs), developed by Guangdong Qianhui Biotechnology Co., Ltd. It is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), a life-threatening condition characterized by acute hepatic decompensation in patients with underlying chronic liver disease. The therapeutic mechanism of QH-863-3 relies on the potent immunomodulatory and regenerative properties of mesenchymal stem cells. Once administered, these cells are intended to home to the injured liver tissue and modulate the systemic inflammatory response by suppressing the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (the "cytokine storm") and promoting an anti-inflammatory environment. Additionally, the cells exert paracrine effects by secreting various growth factors and trophic molecules that inhibit hepatocyte apoptosis and stimulate endogenous liver regeneration, thereby improving hepatic function and patient survival.
