Overview

Qi-Gui-Yin formula (also known as Qiguiyin) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Beijing Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is composed of five herbal ingredients: Astragalus mongholicus (Astragali Radix), Angelica sinensis (Angelicae sinensis Radix), Lonicera japonica (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Artemisia annua, and Reynoutria japonica (Polygoni Cuspidati Rhizoma et Radix). Qi-Gui-Yin is primarily developed for the treatment of severe pneumonia, particularly infections caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. It works by suppressing bacterial quorum sensing, inhibiting biofilm formation, and downregulating active efflux pumps, thereby restoring sensitivity to antibiotics like imipenem and levofloxacin.
