Overview

Qi Ju Gan Lu Yin is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal supplement developed through a collaboration between the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and the Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution (SCHMI). It is an 11-ingredient formulation specifically designed to treat dry eye syndrome, particularly the lung and kidney yin deficiency patterns frequently observed in peri- and post-menopausal women. The supplement contains key botanical ingredients such as Chrysanthemum (Flos Chrysanthemi), Goji berries (Fructus Lycii), and baby ginseng (Radix Pseudostellariae). Clinical research indicates that the formula works by increasing supportive proteins and decreasing inflammatory proteins on the ocular surface, thereby improving tear film stability and reducing symptoms of irritation. It has been approved by the Singapore Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and is currently being evaluated in expanded clinical trials to assess its efficacy compared to standard treatments and acupuncture.
