Overview

Qi Ling decoction (QLD) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation being investigated for its potential to overcome resistance to abiraterone acetate in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Research indicates that QLD enhances the therapeutic efficacy of abiraterone by promoting apoptosis and inducing cell death in abiraterone-resistant prostate cancer cell lines. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of autophagy, which helps restore sensitivity to androgen receptor-targeted therapies. In preclinical models, the combination of QLD and abiraterone has demonstrated superior tumor inhibition compared to either agent alone, suggesting its utility as an adjuvant therapy to extend the duration of response to standard-of-care hormonal treatments.
