Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qianggu Capsules (强骨胶囊) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) developed and manufactured by Changshu Leiyunshang Pharmaceutical. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of primary osteoporosis, including postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis, as well as for promoting recovery from bone fractures and managing osteoarthritis. The active pharmaceutical ingredient is the total flavonoids extracted from the rhizome of *Drynaria fortunei* (Kunze) J. Sm., a plant long used in TCM for bone health. The drug exerts its therapeutic effects by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts, upregulating the expression of bone morphogenetic proteins (such as BMP-2), and inhibiting the activity of osteoclasts through the modulation of the OPG/RANKL/RANK signaling pathway. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in increasing bone mineral density (BMD), improving bone microarchitecture, and relieving symptoms such as chronic lower back pain and limb weakness. It was approved by the China Food and Drug Administration (now NMPA) under the approval number 国药准字Z20030007.
