Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qianyangyuyin is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily utilized for the management of hypertension and hypertensive nephropathy. Developed by the Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine, the formula is based on the TCM principles of suppressing hyperactivity of the liver-yang and nourishing yin. It is composed of a specific blend of herbal and mineral ingredients, including Concha Ostreae, Magnetitum, Radix Rehmanniae, and Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae. Pharmacological studies indicate that Qianyangyuyin exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), specifically by reducing levels of Angiotensin II and inhibiting the expression of Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1 (TGF-beta1), which helps mitigate renal fibrosis and vascular remodeling. Additionally, the formula demonstrates antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, contributing to the protection of the renal vascular endothelium and the reduction of proteinuria in patients with hypertensive renal injury.
