Qiaobenketamine (also known as qiaobenamine or hydroxyphenamion) is a novel synthetic small molecule positive inotropic agent developed by Guangzhou Zhongwei Biotechnology. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of heart failure and myocardial protection in patients undergoing cardiac surgery, such as valve replacement or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Mechanistically, qiaobenketamine acts as a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, which enhances myocardial contractility. Unlike traditional catecholamines, it is designed to provide hemodynamic support with minimal impact on heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand. The drug has undergone Phase 2 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetic profile in post-operative cardiac patients.
