Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qibai Pingfei Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound developed by Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in December 2021 as a Class 1.1 innovative Chinese medicine, it is specifically indicated for patients in the stable phase of COPD who exhibit the TCM syndrome of Qi deficiency, phlegm obstruction, and blood stasis. The formulation is derived from clinical experience and aims to tonify Qi, strengthen the spleen, and clear phlegm. Pharmacological studies suggest that it functions by inhibiting inflammatory signaling pathways, reducing airway remodeling, and enhancing antioxidant defenses. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in improving exercise tolerance, reducing the frequency of acute exacerbations, and alleviating respiratory symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath.
