Overview

Qibei Jiedu Formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Feng Li at the National Cancer Center/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. It is intended for the prevention and management of acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) in breast cancer patients undergoing adjuvant radiotherapy. The formula is a complex botanical mixture consisting of *Lithospermum erythrorhizon*, *Tribulus terrestris*, *Fried Shenqu*, and *Licorice root*. Administered orally as a decoction, it aims to reduce the incidence of grade 2 or higher radiation dermatitis, alleviate symptoms like erythema and pain, and accelerate wound healing. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of inflammatory cytokines and the skin microbiota to support skin regeneration and reduce radiation-induced damage.
