Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qidan Bimin Pill is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Shanxi Yangwenshui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis. The drug is a Chinese patent medicine (Zhongchengyao) composed of several herbal ingredients, including Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi), Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), and Magnolia biondii (Xin Yi). Its therapeutic action is based on traditional principles of tonifying the lungs and spleen while clearing the nasal passages. Pharmacologically, it is thought to work by stabilizing mast cell membranes, inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, and modulating the Th1/Th2 immune balance to reduce hypersensitivity in the nasal mucosa. It is administered orally in a pill format and is approved for marketing in China.
