Overview

Qifu Yin is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal decoction first described in the Ming Dynasty text 'Jingyue Quanshu'. It is traditionally indicated for the treatment of 'dementia' (chi dai) caused by deficiency of the heart and spleen or kidney essence. The formula is composed of seven primary botanical ingredients: Panax ginseng, Rehmannia glutinosa, Atractylodes macrocephala, Angelica sinensis, Ziziphus jujuba var. spinosa, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and Citrus reticulata. Modern clinical research focuses on its application in cognitive disorders, including post-stroke cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease. Its mechanism is thought to involve neuroprotection through the reduction of oxidative stress, inhibition of neuroinflammation, and modulation of the cholinergic system.
