Qigu Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Shuguang Hospital, which is affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The formulation is based on the TCM therapeutic principle of "Focus on Both Tendons and Bones" (筋骨并重), which emphasizes the integrated treatment of the skeletal and muscular systems. It is primarily investigated for its potential to treat age-related musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoporosis, dysmobility syndrome, and various muscle diseases such as sarcopenia. In clinical research settings, it has been used to evaluate the Body-Mass-Frequency-Index (BMFI), a metric designed to reflect the physical health status and musculoskeletal integrity of elderly populations.
