Overview
Qijia Fuzheng Rougan Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation developed by the Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of liver fibrosis and chronic hepatitis B. The formula is based on the TCM principles of Fuzheng (strengthening the body's resistance) and Rougan (softening the liver), with key active components derived from *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) and *Carapax Trionycis* (Biejia). Pharmacologically, the drug exerts anti-fibrotic effects by inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and downregulating the expression of pro-fibrogenic factors such as transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1). This leads to a reduction in the synthesis and deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) components like collagen types I and III. It is typically used as an adjunctive therapy to standard antiviral treatments to improve liver histology and prevent the progression of cirrhosis.
