Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qijian mixture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula comprising *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Ramulus euonymi*, *Coptis chinensis*, and *Pueraria lobata*, developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D). The formula exerts its therapeutic effects through a multi-target approach, including the modulation of gut microbiota (specifically enriching the Bacteroidetes phylum) and the regulation of metabolic pathways such as galactose metabolism and amino acid degradation. System pharmacology analysis indicates that Qijian mixture acts via key signaling proteins, including AKT1, PPARA, and TP53. Preclinical studies in diabetic mouse models have demonstrated its efficacy in lowering blood glucose levels and its safety profile, showing a similar hypoglycemic trend to metformin.
