Overview
Qiju Dihuang Pill (QJDHW) is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used to treat ocular conditions associated with Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency. It is an extension of the Liuwei Dihuang Wan formula, enriched with *Lycium chinense* (Gou Qi Zi) and *Chrysanthemum morifolium* (Ju Hua) to specifically target eye health. Clinical and preclinical evidence indicates that QJDHW manages age-related dry eye disease (DED) by modulating the complement system, reducing ocular surface inflammation, and stabilizing the tear film. It is widely manufactured by various TCM pharmaceutical companies, most notably Beijing Tongrentang, and is typically administered orally as concentrated pills or water-honey pills.
