Overview

Qilian mixture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal preparation developed by the Qingdao Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital (Haici Hospital). It is primarily utilized as an adjuvant therapy for patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma, specifically those presenting with EGFR mutations and the TCM syndrome of "Qi deficiency." The mixture is typically used in combination with standard EGFR-targeted therapies (such as gefitinib or osimertinib) to enhance clinical efficacy, manage treatment-related side effects, and improve the quality of life. Research into the mixture focuses on its ability to modulate the intestinal microbiota and improve TCM syndrome scores, tumor response, and Karnofsky performance status. Its primary herbal components often include *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) and *Scutellaria barbata* (Banbianlian), which are traditionally used to tonify Qi and clear heat and toxins.
