Qilian Xiaopi

Qilian Xiaopi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by Wangjing Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and gastric precancerous lesions (GPL). The formulation typically centers on botanical ingredients such as *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) and *Coptis chinensis* (Huanglian), which are used to tonify the spleen and clear heat. Its therapeutic mechanism involves anti-inflammatory effects, regulation of gastric mucosal cell apoptosis, and improvement of the gastric microenvironment. Clinical and pharmacological studies suggest that Qilian Xiaopi can reverse mucosal atrophy and intestinal metaplasia by modulating signaling pathways such as the PI3K/Akt/mTOR axis and inhibiting the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-6. It is currently utilized as a hospital preparation in China and has been the subject of multiple clinical trials to evaluate its efficacy in preventing gastric cancer progression.
