Overview

Qiling Huaxian Fang (芪灵化纤方) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily investigated for its anti-fibrotic effects in chronic liver diseases. Developed by researchers at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the formula typically consists of *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Ganoderma lucidum* (Lingzhi), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), *Prunus persica* (Taoren), and *Curcuma zedoaria* (Ezhu). It is formulated based on the TCM principles of tonifying Qi and invigorating blood to resolve stasis. Pharmacological studies indicate that the formula exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway, inhibiting the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells, and promoting the degradation of collagen fibers in the liver parenchyma. It has been evaluated in clinical trials for patients with liver fibrosis and early-stage cirrhosis resulting from chronic hepatitis B infection.
