Overview
Qiling Yiqi Tablets is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of immune reconstitution failure (IRF) in people living with HIV-1 who exhibit lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome. IRF is characterized by a failure to achieve adequate CD4+ T-cell recovery despite effective viral suppression with antiretroviral therapy (ART). The tablets are used as an adjunct to ART to improve CD4+ T-cell counts and overall immune reconstitution. Its mechanism likely involves the immunomodulatory effects of its constituent herbs, which are traditionally used to supplement "Qi" and support the immune system. The formulation is believed to potentially enhance thymic output, reduce T-cell activation and inflammation, and restore immune homeostasis.
