Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qiliqiangxin is a standardized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF). It is composed of 11 herbal ingredients, including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Panax ginseng*, and *Salvia miltiorrhiza*. The drug exerts its therapeutic effects through a multi-target mechanism that includes inhibiting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), suppressing the sympathetic nervous system, improving myocardial energy metabolism, and reducing cardiac remodeling. Clinical evidence, most notably from the large-scale QUEST trial, has demonstrated that Qiliqiangxin significantly reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and cardiovascular death when added to standard-of-care therapy in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It is widely used in China and has been the subject of rigorous clinical evaluation to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and evidence-based cardiology.
