Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qiluxiaobai formula (QLXBF) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal compound developed by researchers at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, primarily at affiliated institutions such as Longhua Hospital. It is specifically designed for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and primary glomerulonephritis, with a focus on reducing proteinuria and slowing the progression of renal damage. The formula typically comprises several botanical ingredients, including *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) and *Phragmites communis* (Lugen). QLXBF exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1)/Smad signaling pathway, which is a key driver of renal interstitial fibrosis. By inhibiting this pathway and protecting podocytes from apoptosis and injury, the formula helps maintain the integrity of the glomerular filtration barrier. It is frequently studied and utilized in China as a specialized treatment for IgA nephropathy and other chronic inflammatory renal conditions.
