Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qimaifeiluoping Mixture (QM), also known as Qimai Feiluoping decoction, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation composed of 18 classic herbs, originally prescribed by Professor Tong Xiaolin. It is developed by the Hubei Provincial Hospital of TCM and the Changchun University of Chinese Medicine. QM is formulated to replenish Qi, nourish Yin, promote blood circulation, and open the meridians. It is recommended in the Chinese national medical program for convalescent COVID-19 patients, particularly those with impaired lung function and persistent inflammatory or fibrotic lung imaging findings (pulmonary fibrosis). Mechanistically, QM has been shown to inhibit the TGF-β/Smad3 signaling pathway, thereby attenuating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and promoting extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation. It also modulates the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway to restore autophagy and alleviate endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndMT), and inhibits mitochondrial complex I-mediated oxidative stress.
