Overview

Qiming granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation approved in China for the treatment of diabetic microangiopathy, specifically non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy and diabetic nephropathy. Developed based on the clinical experience of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of TCM, it is a complex mixture of eight herbal components: *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Rehmannia glutinosa*, *Pueraria lobata*, *Lycium barbarum*, *Crataegus pinnatifida*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Alisma plantago-aquatica*, and *Typha angustifolia*. The drug is designed to address the TCM patterns of "Qi and Yin deficiency" and "blood stasis" which are common in diabetic patients. Pharmacologically, it has been shown to inhibit the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), reduce retinal oxidative stress, and improve microvascular permeability and blood flow. It is manufactured by Wanbang Biopharmaceuticals and is widely used in clinical practice in China.
