qing-gan huo-xue decoction

Qing-Gan Huo-Xue decoction (QGHXD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Longhua Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, for the treatment of alcoholic liver disease (ALD). The decoction is designed according to TCM principles to clear liver heat and promote blood circulation to resolve stasis, targeting the inflammatory and fibrotic processes associated with chronic alcohol consumption. In clinical trials, QGHXD has been evaluated for its ability to improve liver function enzymes, reduce serum markers of hepatic fibrosis, and decrease liver stiffness as assessed by transient elastography. It is typically administered as an oral decoction and has been studied in comparison to standard hepatoprotective agents such as polyene phosphatidylcholine.
