Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qing Huo Yi Hao (QHYH) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University. It is formulated based on the 'clearing heat and detoxifying' principle of TCM and consists of several herbal ingredients, including Artemisia capillaris, Astragalus membranaceus, Gardenia jasminoides, Hirudo nipponica, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Pericarpium Citri, Pteris multifida, and Pueraria lobata. QHYH acts as a potent antioxidant and free radical scavenger, particularly targeting superoxide anions and hydroxyl radicals. It has been investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, diabetic nephropathy, and endothelial dysfunction, demonstrating protective effects on endothelial cells and pancreatic beta cells against high glucose-induced oxidative stress.
