Overview

Qingre Chushi Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, based on the clinical experience of the renowned dermatologist Zhao Bingnan. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles), particularly the damp-heat syndrome type. The decoction works by clearing heat and removing dampness, which in modern pharmacological terms translates to anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and immunomodulatory activities. It aims to reduce blister formation, alleviate pain (neuralgia), and shorten the course of the disease by downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha. It is widely used in clinical practice in China, often as a complementary therapy alongside standard antiviral medications.
