Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingfang Zhongtong Waifu San is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical formulation developed by Harbin Yikang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, specifically targeting wind-dampness arthralgia syndrome. Formulated as an external application powder (Waifu San), it is designed to alleviate joint swelling and pain. The name suggests the inclusion of botanical ingredients such as *Sinomenium acutum* (Qingfengteng) and *Saposhnikovia divaricata* (Fangfeng), which are traditionally used in TCM to dispel wind, eliminate dampness, and provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. A Phase II clinical trial (CTR20150748) was conducted in China to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this preparation in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
