Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingfei Huatan Fang is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula used primarily to clear phlegm and heat from the lungs and support respiratory health. It is commonly prescribed for symptoms such as cough with thick sputum, asthma due to lung heat or phlegm-heat obstruction, chest congestion, and shortness of breath. The formula typically contains multiple herbs that work synergistically to reduce inflammation in the airways, resolve phlegm accumulation by transforming and expelling it from the lungs and middle jiao (digestive tract), suppress coughs, relieve wheezing/asthma symptoms by promoting downward movement of lung qi (energy), and improve immune function. Clinical studies have shown its effectiveness in improving pulmonary function in conditions like severe pneumonia or stroke-associated pneumonia[3][5]. The mechanism of action involves anti-inflammatory effects and immunomodulation.
