Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingfei Huatan Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation designed to treat respiratory conditions characterized by the "phlegm-heat obstructing the lungs" syndrome. The formula typically consists of several botanical extracts, including *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huang Qin), *Fritillaria thunbergii* (Zhe Bei Mu), and *Trichosanthes kirilowii* (Gua Lou), which collectively exert anti-inflammatory, mucolytic, and antitussive effects. It is currently being investigated as an adjunctive therapy to routine Western medicine for the treatment of Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (AECOPD). Clinical studies, such as those led by the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine and supported by the National Key R&D Program of China, aim to evaluate its efficacy in reducing the duration of exacerbations and improving airway clearance in COPD patients.
