Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingfei Litan Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used primarily for the treatment of acute respiratory infections, including acute lung injury (ALI), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and bacterial pneumonia. It is a multi-herb prescription with 47 identified main components. The decoction exerts its effects mainly through anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative mechanisms. Pharmacological studies indicate that it suppresses proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β; alleviates oxidative stress by increasing glutathione levels and reducing reactive oxygen species in lung epithelial cells; and modulates immune responses via pathways like TNF signaling and Toll-like receptor signaling. In models of Klebsiella pneumoniae-induced pneumonia, it was shown to regulate the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB axis through upregulation of miR-146a-5p expression, thereby reducing pulmonary inflammation[1][2][3][4].
