Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingfei tang granules (also known as Seihaito or Clear the Lungs Decoction) are a traditional Chinese herbal formula and Japanese Kampo medicine (TJ-90) formulated as concentrated granules. The formula is composed of multiple herbal ingredients, typically including Scutellaria root (Huang Qin), Platycodon root (Jie Geng), Morus bark (Sang Bai Pi), Apricot seed (Xing Ren), Gardenia fruit (Zhi Zi), Asparagus tuber (Tian Men Dong), Fritillaria bulb (Bei Mu), Citrus peel (Chen Pi), Jujube (Da Zao), Ginger (Sheng Jiang), Poria (Fu Ling), Ophiopogon tuber (Mai Men Dong), Licorice (Gan Cao), Schisandra fruit (Wu Wei Zi), Bamboo shavings (Chikujo), and others. It is traditionally used to clear lung heat, moisten the lungs, resolve thick or sticky phlegm, and ease persistent coughs associated with chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, or smoking-induced airway irritation. It is marketed as an over-the-counter Kampo medicine in Japan (e.g., under the brand Dasmock by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical) and manufactured by various traditional medicine companies.
