Qingfei Tongluo

Qingfei Tongluo is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Tianjin Nankai Hospital, specifically indicated for the treatment of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in children. The formulation is designed to clear the lungs and dredge the collaterals, addressing the TCM pathology of phlegm-heat obstruction. It is frequently used as an adjunctive therapy alongside Western antibiotics such as azithromycin. Clinical evidence suggests that Qingfei Tongluo effectively reduces the duration of fever and cough, promotes the absorption of pulmonary infiltrates, and modulates the immune response by decreasing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-α while increasing anti-inflammatory markers. It is typically administered as an oral decoction or in granule form.
