Qinghe Expecting Dampness Formula Granules

Qinghe Expecting Dampness Formula Granules (also known as Qinghe Huashi Formula) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout, specifically targeting the "damp-heat" syndrome in TCM theory. The formula works through a multi-target mechanism to lower serum uric acid levels by both reducing production and increasing excretion. Pharmacological studies indicate that it inhibits the activity of xanthine oxidase, the enzyme responsible for uric acid synthesis, and modulates the expression of key renal urate transporters. Specifically, it has been shown to downregulate the expression of URAT1 (SLC22A12) and GLUT9 (SLC2A9) to reduce uric acid reabsorption in the kidneys, while potentially upregulating ABCG2 to facilitate uric acid secretion. As a hospital preparation, it is approved for clinical use within the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine network.
