Overview

Qingjin topical preparation is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital-made formulation developed by Shuguang Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily utilized for the external treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU), specifically targeting the inflammatory or damp-heat toxin stage of the wound. The preparation is designed to clear heat, detoxify, and reduce local inflammation and exudation, thereby preparing the wound bed for subsequent healing phases. In clinical practice, it is often used in a sequential therapy model alongside other TCM preparations like Zizhu ointment. Research, including randomized controlled trials, evaluates its efficacy in combination with internal TCM treatments (such as Simiao pills and Xuefu Zhuyu capsules) to improve wound healing rates and reduce amputation risks in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
