Overview

Qingkailing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation, most commonly administered as an injection, derived from the classic "An-Gong-Niu-Huang" formula. It is a complex mixture containing extracts from *Radix Isatidis* (woad root), *Gardenia jasminoides* (cape jasmine), *Cornu Bubali* (water buffalo horn), and *Concha Margaritifera Usta* (mother of pearl), along with purified compounds such as baicalin, cholic acid, and hyodeoxycholic acid. Qingkailing is widely approved in China for the treatment of high fever, viral respiratory infections, and acute stroke due to its potent antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties. In clinical research, it has been evaluated in Phase 4 trials for its potential to facilitate corticosteroid withdrawal in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis by modulating systemic inflammatory responses and inhibiting pro-inflammatory signaling pathways, including the NF-kappaB pathway and the production of cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-6.
