Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingnao Xuanqiao Dripping Pills is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Beijing Tongrentang, specifically indicated for the treatment of ischemic stroke (cerebral infarction). The formulation is composed of active extracts from *Ligusticum chuanxiong*, *Acorus tatarinowii*, and *Borneolum Syntheticum*. Its therapeutic profile is characterized by its ability to clear the brain and open the orifices, which translates pharmacologically to improving cerebral microcirculation, reducing cerebral edema, and protecting neurons from ischemic injury. Key active compounds such as tetramethylpyrazine act as calcium channel blockers, while borneol facilitates the crossing of the blood-brain barrier and modulates GABAergic neurotransmission. The drug is approved in China and is used during both the acute and recovery phases of stroke to improve neurological deficits and functional outcomes.
