Qingre Huayu

Qingre Huayu is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Shuguang Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically for the treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The formula is designed based on the TCM therapeutic principles of clearing heat-toxin (Qingre) and resolving blood stasis (Huayu), which are thought to be central to the pathogenesis of unstable atherosclerotic plaques and the inflammatory response following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Its mechanism of action involves the systemic inhibition of pro-inflammatory signaling pathways, particularly the TLR4/NF-κB axis, leading to a reduction in circulating inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Clinical studies suggest that the formula helps stabilize plaques, improve endothelial function, and reduce the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in ACS patients.
