Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingre Huoxue Decoction (QRHX) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, specifically coronary heart disease (CHD) and myocardial infarction (MI). There are two primary formulations associated with major Chinese medical institutions: one from Guang'anmen Hospital (8 herbs) and another from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM (7 herbs). The decoction functions by 'clearing heat and activating blood circulation.' Mechanistically, it has been shown to alleviate myocardial injury by stimulating autophagy through the activation of the Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway. It is administered orally and is often used as an adjunctive therapy following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
