Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingre Jiedu Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used primarily for its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. It is composed of multiple herbs, commonly including honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica), forsythia fruit (Forsythia suspensa), gardenia fruit (Gardenia jasminoides), Artemisia apiacea, Scutellaria baicalensis, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, moutan bark (Paeonia suffruticosa), ophiopogon root (Ophiopogon japonicus), white peony root (Paeonia lactiflora), and licorice root (Glycyrrhiza uralensis)[1]. The decoction is traditionally used to "clear heat" and "detoxify," which in modern terms translates to reducing inflammation and modulating immune responses. Clinical studies have shown efficacy in conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus[1], acute granulomatous mastitis[4], gynecological cancers when combined with radiotherapy[2], and prevention of acute radiation esophagitis[3]. Mechanistically, it appears to downregulate inflammatory mediators such as NLRP3 inflammasome components IL-1β and IL-18[1] and may enhance cellular immunity by increasing CD4+/CD8+ ratios and NK cell activity[2].
