Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qingre Jiedu Mixture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation used primarily for its "heat-clearing" and "detoxifying" properties. It is commonly administered as an oral liquid or decoction. The mixture typically contains multiple herbal ingredients such as Flos Lonicerae (honeysuckle), Radix Scrophulariae, Fructus Forsythiae, Fructus Gardeniae, Artemisia apiacea, Scutellaria baicalensis, Rhizoma anemarrhenae, Moutan bark, Radix ophiopogonis, Glycyrrhiza (licorice root), among others[3][6]. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve anti-inflammatory effects—possibly through inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway and reduction of inflammatory cytokines like IL-1β and IL-18[6]. Clinical studies suggest it may be effective in treating conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), acute infections with fever and sore throat ("wind-heat" common cold), chronic tonsillitis, cellulitis, diarrhea due to infection ("bacillary dysentery"), and may have adjunctive benefits in cancer therapy by improving immune function[1][4][5][6][7]. The main active ingredient from licorice root—glycyrrhetinic acid—may also contribute anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting NADPH oxidase-mediated pathways[2].
