Overview
Qingzhi Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Shanghai General Hospital (also known as Shanghai First People's Hospital). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and is currently being investigated for its potential therapeutic effects on erectile dysfunction (ED), particularly in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The formulation is designed to clear lipids and improve vascular health. In the context of ED, research suggests that Qingzhi Capsule may improve erectile function by enhancing endothelial function, reducing oxidative stress, and upregulating the nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO-cGMP) pathway in the penile corpus cavernosum. It is often studied in combination with phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors like tadalafil to evaluate synergistic effects in patients with well-controlled glycemia.
