Overview
Qingzhixiaoyan decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the management of hyperlipidemia and metabolic disturbances in breast cancer patients, particularly those undergoing endocrine therapy with aromatase inhibitors (AIs). The formula is designed to address the 'phlegm-stasis' and 'heat-toxicity' patterns identified in TCM theory as contributors to metabolic dysfunction and tumor progression. Mechanistically, research suggests that the decoction regulates lipid metabolism and exerts anti-inflammatory effects by modulating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway and influencing the expression of key metabolic regulators such as PPAR-gamma and SREBP-1.
